2011 Pearl Player Update

PEARL PLAYER UPDATE (3/18) – 2012 College baseball season is about a month old and here’s an update on some of last summer’s Pearl players:

Lee Longo (Mayfield, OH) is starting strong for the Eastern Michigan Eagles playing first base or starting as the designated hitter. The past weekend he had an 8-for-8 streak at one point and is now hitting .398 and is second on the team the team with 12 RBI’s…

Speaking of Eagles, Boston College teammates Spens...er Payne (Kirkland, WA) and Rob Moir (Seymour, CT) are doing well. Payne is the starting first baseman and is hitting .263. Moir regularly sees action and got two hits and a stolen base in the exhibition game against the Red Sox earlier this month…

Frank Duncan (San Francisco) is the ace for the University of Kansas and lost a tough 1-0 decision to Notre Dame over the weekend but he is 3-2 (3.37 ERA) for the season and leads the Jayhawks with 30 strikeouts…

Eddie Sorondo (Jersey City, New Jersey) is Delaware State’s designated hitter and leads the team among starters, hitting .381…

Jeff Stevens (Novato) is starting in left field for U.C. Irvine, and now leads the Anteaters with an outstanding .400 average. He got a single against Pepperdine in a game played at Dodger Stadium…

A week ago Saint Mary’s used only Pearl pitchers, Barraclough/Brockett/Cortese against San Diego State. Kyle Barraclough (Santa Clara) has a 2.81 ERA and 34 K’s in 32 innings and Ryan Brockett (West Hills) has a 0.57 ERA in relief…

Max Deering (Mission Viejo) is 2-0 (2.35 ERA) for Santa Clara in 7 relief appearances…

Coleman Lukas (Berkeley) is hitting .321 for Pomona-Pitzer…

Derrick Mitchell (Berkeley) is doing well as Prairie View A&M’s leading starter with a 4-1 record and a stellar 1.87 ERA…

Ryan Millison (Crockett) is a key starter for Sierra College and is 2-1 with a 2.87 ERA.
