The Neptune Beach Pearl opened up Far West League action with 2 games against the Walnut Creek Crawdads over the weekend.
In Game 1 Saturday the two teams battled with a 2-2 game having to be suspended due to darkness in the Top of the 11th inning. When the game resumed on Sunday it took 2 more innings before Michael Theofanopolous (Cal) delivered a Solo Walk Off Home Run to lead off the Bottom of the 13th and give the Pearl a 3-2 victory.
In Game 2 timely hitting was the story. The Pearl jumped off to a 2-0 lead before the Crawdads tied the game on a two run home run in the Top of the 6th to make it 2-2. The Pearl took the lead back in the Bottom of the 7th and added an insurance run in the Bottom of the 8th to make it 4-2. Theofanopolous took the mound in the Top of the 9th and recorded the save. The Pearl improve to (7-5 Overall 2-0 FWL)
The Pearl are back in action Tuesday at Evans Diamond in another Far West League contest against the California Warriors.
